Call For Poetry Submissions from African Poets

by Vera Ignatowitsch
Editor-in-chief
, BetterThanStarbucks

Better Than Starbucks is a poetry and creative fiction journal which publishes bi-monthly, or six times per year, both electronically and in print.

We are continually looking for submissions from African poets.

In each issue, we have a section called African Poetry. You can view the current issue here: https://anthonywatkins.wixsite.com/btsmay2019/african-poetry

Our submission guidelines are here: https://www.betterthanstarbucks.org/contact-submit

There is no fee to submit and no payment at present, but contributors do receive their choice of a free PDF or eBook version.

Occasionally, our editors will suggest minor edits to poems we are considering. This may be on a point of English grammar which is confusing to an English reader.

We do, however, seek authentic African voices writing beautiful poetry, and have no desire to influence these poets to sound European or American.

It is the life, experience, and voices of Africans in Africa we wish to publish.

African poets submitting poetry should send it to [email protected]
