Call for Papers: Nigerias Eastern Writers Forum: Creative Writing and the African Environment |
Nigerias Eastern Writers Forum is pleased to announce an International conference/ Writers Convention on Creative Writing and the African Environment in honour of African writers Gabriel Okara, J. P Clark, Elechi Amadi and Christian Otobotekere. Proceedings of the conference which holds at Okoya Auditorium and Gloryland Conference Centers in Bayelsa Nigeria on 12th 14th March 2012 will be collated and edited by the International Research Confederacy on African Literature and Culture (IRCALC).
Past and present imaginative works including films, songs, dances, orature, writing and folk traditions in Africa bear evidence of the consistent reevaluation of African human, natural and socio-cultural environments. With globalization and the Information Age the frontiers of 21st century African environment widen to present new challenges to individual, collective national and continental survivals. And so the question remains as to how have contemporary Africas creative outpourings voiced and re-imagined Africa in the realm of contemporary art and literature of varied human circumstances. The conference provides opportunity for scholars to explore, in its broadest sense, the interface of writing and creativity with the African global environment, not excluding, perhaps, their relationships with other disciplines in history, politics, culture, anthropology and the sciences.
The Editorial committee of International Research Confederacy on African Literature and Culture (IRCALC) will review select papers that meet international and double-blind review standards for the Journal of African Poetry and Journal of African Literature. Conference participants are therefore encouraged to expand and revise their papers for peer review and possible publication in the NP and JAL journals.
